Aglia Olio with Mushrooms and Ham

I needed something fast and simple for dinner. Pasta seems to be the easiest. I especially love Aglia Olio because it's simple and tasty. I wished I had chilli flakes so it will give more oomph to the pasta.

Showed my "final product" to the boyfriend and he was like.. wow! Love, I shall cook for you when you're home for the holidays ok?

Ingredients
One handful of button mushrooms
One handful of straw mushrooms
One handful of spaghetti no. 5
1 piece of sandwich ham(cut into strips)
A few cloves of garlic (chopped)
3 tablespoon of olive oil
1 tablespoon of coarse black pepper
2 teaspoons of salt

1. Boil water and season in with salt and a teaspoon of olive oil. Boil the pasta according to the instruction of the packet.
2. Once the spaghetti is cooked, put it aside.
3. Heat the pan with olive oil at a low heat. Sweat the chopped garlic. Add in the black pepper and salt. Mix it well.
4. Throw in the mushrooms and ham. Stir it for a few minutes.
5. Add in the spaghetti and a bit of water. Stir to mix.
6. Once all are mixed well, off the gas and served while hot.

Mini ABC Soup

I have always love soup. The proud Cantonese in me must drink soup in most of my meals. ABC soup is the simplest and fastest soup that I actually know how to boil. Was trying to detox this week so I made mini ABC Soup.

I read it in Table for Two or More's blog that she made this soup before too. So, I made a decision to execute it. Besides, mini vegetables are awesome.

Ingredients (inspired by Table for Two or More)
1 pack of cherry tomatoes
1 big potato
1 small pack of baby carrots
1 small pack of shallots
2 teaspoons of coarse black pepper
1 teaspoon of salt

1. Wash and prepare the ingredients. I chopped the big potato into small chunks. Peeled the shallots.
2. Boil half a pot of water.
3. Once it boils, chuck in all the vegetables and let it boil for 20 minutes.
4. Add in salt and pepper and boil for another 15 minutes.
5. Off the gas and taadaahh.. the soup is done.

Korean Instant Noodles with Broccoli, Straw Mushroom and Poached Egg

When I was a student then, I used to eat instant noodles a lot. Like a lot. Now that I am working. I usually just pack food or eat out because it is much convenient. But the thing is.. the boyfriend was around and it was much more fun to eat out with him than being alone.

Now that I am alone again.. the boyfriend is off to work in the East Coast. It's back to instant noodles. I improvised it because I guess it's less sinful if I added more vegetables.

Ingredients
1 pack of Nong Shim Hot and Spicy instant noodles
A few clorets of broccoli
Half a pack of straw mushroom
One egg

1. Boil water in a pot. Once water boils, throw in the broccoli and straw mushroom.
2. Then, chuck in the noodles and those packets of seasonings and hydrated mushrooms and vegetables.
3. Stir to mix well.
4. Take out the noodles, vegetables and straw mushroom.
5. Lower the heat. Swirl the soup in a circular motion and put in the egg to poach.
6. Let the egg poach for 3 minutes.
7. Pour the egg and soup in a bowl.
8. Eat while hot.

A New Beginning

I deleted all the 80 posts that I used to write to start a new beginning.

I am about to embark to a new journey soon.. in a week or so. I am transferring to another department actually.

I felt that cooking actually make me sane especially that I have a crazy stressful life at work. So, yeah.. let's hope that this will last. This cooking blog.. I mean.

Let's start cooking!
